A few years ago, my mom and I caught a Bertha Palmer exhibit at the Chicago History Museum and ever since I’ve been OBSESSED. Y’all, she is the COOLEST and has some serious midwest pride. When she and her husband Potter (yes, Potter Palmer) went on a tour of Europe, she had a dress made that had sheaves of wheat on it in place of a coat of arms (you can see the wheat on her dress above.) She was the MOST stylish, and in the newspaper all the time, and everyone knew her, and she was also cool, which can be the same as stylish, but isn’t always.
Anyway, there is going to be a short documentary on her life THIS SUNDAY on WTTW (which I always want to call GPTV) at 5:30, which I will totally be watching. I am ALSO going to screen the DVD at my library, so if you miss it this sunday, just come on over sometime this spring!
I’ve probably never been this excited about a 30 min. public television documentary.
